The boundedness of maximal operators and singular integrals via Fourier transform estimates

In this paper, the author studies the mapping properties for some general maximal operators and singular integrals on certain function spaces via Fourier transform estimates. Also, some concrete maximal operators and singular integrals are studied as applications.     

A fast parallel clustering algorithm for molecular simulation trajectories

We implemented a GPU‐powered parallel k‐centers algorithm to perform clustering on the conformations of molecular dynamics (MD) simulations. The algorithm is up to two orders of magnitude faster than the CPU implementation. We tested our algorithm on four protein MD simulation datasets ranging from the small Alanine Dipeptide to a 370‐residue Maltose Binding Protein (MBP). It is capable of grouping 250,000 conformations of the MBP into 4000 clusters within 40 seconds. To achieve this, we effectively parallelized the code on the GPU and utilize the triangle inequality of metric spaces. Furthermore, the algorithm's running time is linear with respect to the number of cluster centers. In addition, we found the triangle inequality to be less effective in higher dimensions and provide a mathematical rationale. Finally, using Alanine Dipeptide as an example, we show a strong correlation between cluster populations resulting from the k‐centers algorithm and the underlying density. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.

The Allen–Cahn equation with dynamic boundary conditions and mass constraints

The Allen–Cahn equation, coupled with dynamic boundary conditions, has recently received a good deal of attention. The new issue of this paper is the setting of a rather general mass constraint, which may involve either the solution inside the domain or its trace on the boundary. The system of nonlinear partial differential equations can be formulated as a variational inequality. The presence of the constraint in the evolution process leads to additional terms in the equation and the boundary condition containing a suitable Lagrange multiplier. A nonlinear inequality and application to global asymptotic stability of perturbed systems

The goal of this work is to present a new nonlinear inequality which is used in a study of the Lyapunov uniform stability and uniform asymptotic stability of solutions to time‐varying perturbed differential equations. New sufficient conditions for global uniform asymptotic stability and/or practical stability in terms of Lyapunov‐like functions for nonlinear time‐varying systems is obtained. Our conditions are expressed as relation between the Lyapunov function and the existence of specific function which appear in our analysis through the solution of a scalar differential equation. The multisublinear maximal type operators in Banach function lattices

The main aim of this paper is to study a general multisublinear operators generated by quasi-concave functions between weighted Banach function lattices. These operators, in particular, generalize the Hardy–Littlewood and fractional maximal functions playing an important role in harmonic analysis. We prove that under some general geometrical assumptions on Banach function lattices two-weight weak type and also strong type estimates for these operators are true. To derive the main results of this paper we characterize the strong type estimate for a variant of multilinear averaging operators. As special cases we provide boundedness results for fractional maximal operators in concrete function spaces.     

Korn inequality on irregular domains

In this paper, we study the weighted Korn inequality on some irregular domains, e.g., s-John domains and domains satisfying quasihyperbolic boundary conditions. Examples regarding sharpness of the Korn inequality on these domains are presented. Moreover, we show that Korn inequalities imply certain Poincaré inequality.     

New Lyapunov‐type inequalities for a class of even‐order linear differential equations

In this paper, we obtain some new Lyapunov‐type inequalities for a class of even‐order linear differential equations, the results are new and generalize and improve some early results in this field.
